John Giusto, MD
Dr. Giusto is a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a field of medicine that makes use of physical means to treat painful conditions and also relies on a team approach. He was trained at Stanford University and has been the coordinating physician on multidisciplinary treatment teams that included surgeons, medical sub-specialists and psychiatrists, as well as psychologists, physical therapists and occupational therapists. These teams cared for patients who experienced catastrophic injuries to their brain or spinal cord.
For musculoskeletal and pain problems, Dr. Giusto has taken the team approach into complementary and alternative medicine and worked with such diverse practitioners as functional medicine physicians and naturopaths, osteopaths and chiropractors, acupuncturists, body workers, movement therapists, shamans and energy healers.
Dr. Giusto also has done spinal injections and been the medical director of a chronic pain program. While he has additional training and experience in methods of hands-on manipulation, exercise instruction, mindbody medicine, acupuncture and energy healing, he prefers not to rush into “doing” but to spend more time listening and seeking to understand before moving to facilitate change.
