Traditionally, a yoga class or personal practice session begins with active poses followed by a brief restorative pose. The restorative yoga classes and workshops will place the entire focus of practice on restorative poses. By supporting the body with props, we alternately stimulate and relax the body to move toward balance. Some poses have an overall benefit. Others target an individual part such as the lungs or the heart. All will create a completely supportive environment for total relaxation. In the Friday classes, we will focus on building and supporting a regular restorative practice; the Saturday sessions will be an opportunity to extend the practice deeper by practicing for a longer period of time. In some of the Saturday sessions, we’ll focus on particular therapeutic topics, such as balancing the immune system or nervous system.
