Integrative Medicine Consultations & Pain Treatment

Dr. John Giusto

Dr. John Giusto practices integrative medicine where he works with the effects of lifestyle choices and environmental exposures as they interact with the structural, metabolic and control systems of the body. He took his basic training from the Institute for Functional Medicine and avidly seeks out effective and affordable treatment options for his patients. His main areas of concern are diet and bioavailable nutritional supplementation, stress reduction and mindbody balance, and detoxification, dysbiosis and chronic low-grade infections.

Dr. Giusto is also a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, a field of medicine that makes use of physical means and a team approach to treat painful conditions. He is a graduate of Georgetown University Medical School and completed his residency training at Stanford. He has since worked as the coordinating physician on multidisciplinary treatment teams comprised of surgeons, medical sub-specialists, psychiatrists, psychologists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. These teams cared for patients who experienced catastrophic injuries to their brain or spinal cord.

With pain problems, Dr. Giusto brings the team approach into complementary and alternative medicine which can include working with naturopaths, osteopaths, chiropractors, acupuncturists, body workers, movement therapists, and energy healers. Dr. Giusto has training and experience with spinal injections, hands-on manipulation, exercise instruction, mindbody medicine, acupuncture and energy healing. He also uses the integrative medicine approach when dealing with any chronic problem, including chronic pain. Overall, Dr. Giusto prefers not to rush into “doing” but to spend more time listening and seeking to understand.
